Shannon E. Sinclair has served as the Vice President and General Counsel to the University since October 2008 and is the University’s first in-house general counsel. Previously, she was Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Inova Health System, a five-hospital, not-for-profit health system located in Northern Virginia. She began her legal career as an attorney with the law firm McGuire Woods. Her legal experience includes non-profit governance, education, health care, employment, privacy, tax, contracts, litigation management, regulation, and compliance. Ms. Sinclair earned a B.A., with high distinction, from the University of Virginia. She went on to earn her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.P.H from Harvard University.

Liz Burneson serves as Assistant General Counsel at the University of Richmond. Before joining the University, Liz worked at the law firm of Hirschler where she practiced in the commercial litigation, construction, and employment sections. Liz is a graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude and received the Charles T. Norman award for the best all-around graduating student. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Lynchburg.

Jasleen Singh joined the Office of the University Counsel in August 2017 and serves as Senior Paralegal for the department. Prior to joining the University of Richmond, she worked at the law firm of Williams Mullen, primarily assisting with intellectual property and litigation matters. Jasleen graduated with a BA from the College of William & Mary and is currently pursuing her MBA at the University of Richmond.
